3/4 cup Maida / All purpose flour
1/4 cup Butter (unsalted)
1/4 tsp baking powder little less
1/2 cup Powdered sugar little less
1/4 tsp Vanilla essence
As required Milk for binding
as required Red Food Color
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a mixing bowl, add butter, powdered sugar, baking powder, Vanilla essence. Then add Maida in small portions.
Step 2
Don't put all the maida at once.Never over mix the dough. Mix it Gently. Make a smooth dough. Divide into two parts. Add a little milk for binding. So the first dough is ready. For second dough, add some red food color to it.
Step 3
Mix the dough with hands. add little bit of milk to make smooth dough. Start rolling the dough on parchment paper or butter paper & Flatten the dough.Don't make a thin layer. (Thickness = 1/2 cm)
Step 4
Use any shape of cookie cutter and cut so many same shapes (As shown in images). Remove the excess dough and again roll the dough. Brush some water on all shapes and make a layer. Put this in freezer for 20-30 mins.
Step 5
After 30 mins, once it's nicely frozen. Now wrap the white dough mixture on red one. (as shown in images) Roll it to remove the cracks. Again refrigerate this for 30 mins.
Step 6
After 30 mins, slice this thickness of 1/2 cm. Cut these carefully. Place these on parchment paper.
Step 7
Preheat the Kadhai with salt at the bottom & stand on it. Place the plate of cookies on it. Cook on low flame for about 20 mins. Cook until Cookies become slightly goldenish on the edges. It would be better if you keep on checking in between.
Step 8
Let the Cookies cool down at room temperature. Cookies are ready.
