Sabudana Vada: A Popular Indian Snack Made with Sago



Ingredients

20-25 mins 3-5 servings

  1. 1/2 cup Sabudana/Sago

  2. 2-3 boiled Potato, mashed

  3. 1 Green chilli, chopped

  4. 1/2 cup Less than Kuttu aata/Buckwheat flour

  5. 1.5 tsp grated ginger

  6. 1 tsp Red chilli powder

  7. 1 1/2 tsp Coriander powder

  8. 1/4 tsp Black pepper powder

  9. as required Vegetable oil for deep frying or shallow frying

  10. as required Rock salt

  11. As required Fresh Coriander leaves, chopped (optional)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Add 1/2 cup of sabudana in a bowl, rinse them 2-3 times. Drain the water and soak them in one and a half cup of water.. for at least 6 hours. Once they are soaked well, drain the water and transfer the soaked sabudana in a mixing bowl.


Step 2

Add mashed potatoes, chopped green chillies, red chilli powder, coriander powder, black pepper powder, dry ginger powder, chopped coriander leaves, grated ginger, rock salt and Kuttu aata.


Step 3

Combine everything well. If the mixture is sticky then grease your palms with oil and make flat patties (as shown in images.)


Step 4

Now heat oil in Kadhai. Drop these patties carefully in Kadhai. Fry these on medium-low heat, till they turn golden brown and crisp. Once done from both sides, transfer these on plate.


Step 5

Serve hot with tamarind or coriander chutney.
